TThe radar gun operates by using the Doppler effect. The Doppler Effect is the change in frequency of a wave for an observer moving relative to its source.

Background

Radar Guns have been used to detect the speed of moving objects such as balls and vehicles. They are popular among law-enforcement and sport spectators.
